About Yishi

Born in 1997 in Shanxi Province, China, currently resides in London. She graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 2019, majoring in animation art, and completed a Master's degree in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins in 2022. Her creative mediums span a wide range, including acrylics, oil painting, sand, wax, papier-mâché, and the sparkling crystals.

In Yishi's paintings, she focuses on the moment when humans encounter animals, using this scene to deeply contemplate life, existence, and power. She contrasts the tiny and fragile human figures with the vast and powerful presence of animals. She holds deep reverence for the spirit and strength of animals, yearning to approach them, feel their presence, and hopes to find tranquillity under their protection.

Animals play the role of "messengers" in her works, symbolizing sacred commitments.

Through each animal, viewers can not only distinguish them but also discern themselves.
